To find responsibility for the death of the four soldiers drowned on the beach Marbella, the ombudsman, Walter Gutiérrez, demanded a “rapid and thorough investigation”.
The officer stated that the Armed Forces have the obligation to protect the life and integrity of all its members, especially of those who offer the voluntary military service.
Gutierrez added that the entity military need protocols that ensure the effective protection of its entire staff. One of those actions is the urgent establishment of offices specialized in receiving and handling complaints that the recruits made in case of abuses or irregularities.
The ombudsman considered that the investigation should include the entire chain of command.❧
